A project by Joshua Glenn & Rob Walker
A cultural experiment to see how great stories transform the worth of an object. I worked with New York Times design writer Rob Walker and renowned semiotician [the study of symbols] Joshua Glenn to package and elaborate on the findings for their massive project. 100 diverse writers were given 'worthless' found objects for which they created new stories, imbuing meaning where there had been none.
After their systematic process of auctioning off items, I worked with the authors to present the findings in a dynamic way, using only snapshot photos and the creation of infographics. We capped off the project by making the books themselves a final experiment in preference: The book is printed with two different covers ("cow" and "bunny").
